Capturing the beauty of our earth, one moment at a time

Below is the process that Thomas uses to create his prints.

The prints of the images you are viewing are individually printed using the latest digital technology onto archival quality Ilford watercolor fine art paper, using long lasting pigments. This process is known as Gicleé (pronounced geeclay) and ensures the prints remain in excellent quality far longer than using normal printing processes

What is a "giclée"?
The word "giclée" (pronounced "geeclay") is a French word which means sprayed. Giclée prints are made using one of the highest quality fine art reproduction methods available today.

How are they made?
They are made using high-resolution digital files and inkjet printers with pigment-based inks whose longevity far exceeds the typical lifespan of a photograph. Thomas uses the Epson 3800 printer with
K3 Ultrachrome inks that are rated for 75 to 100 years. The inkjet printers spray a fine stream of pigmented ink at a rate of more than four million droplets per second onto flat media, including acid-free and archival-quality watercolor papers or canvas. These wide-format printers, such as the Epson and Roland six-color printers, produce a remarkably broad and realistic spectrum of color and deliver a new standard of photo-realism. The pigment-based inks have the longest lightfast properties in the industry. Coupled with archival media, they create an image that is archival stable, yet vibrant and true to the original landscape. In addition, all mount boards, and matts are of archival quality.
